Devils Tower almost glows in the bright July Sun... It was named in 1875 when a mis-interpretation from Colonel Richard Irving Dodge's expedition somehow translated the native name as "Bad God's Tower," and this eventually led to the name Devils Tower. But the Lakota call it Mato Tipila "Bear Lodge", and it is still a very sacred place to our Indigenous Peoples.
