This photo was one of my first photographs taken when I first arrived in Chicago, my friends were driving to show me around the city. When the one driving pulled over to run into restaurant across the street they stopped in front of this alleyway. I was able to get out of the car and capture different angles of this image. This is the one I enjoyed the most.Time
This photo was taken the day after I landed at O’hare Airport in 2016 so it had to have been December 29. My best guess is around 4pm because I had a bit of jet lag and settling in to do before going out and facing the city.Lighting
The light couldn’t have been better. The Chicago smog and cloudy overcast was perfect.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon G7xInspiration
The feeling of Chicago was new, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. This was how I felt. A new form of identity was washing over me. I also felt distanced, naive in a way. It was dirty, filled with people and a concrete jungle.Editing
I wanted to keep it straight, you get what you have. No post-processing was done that I can remember. In my camera bag
At the time that this photo was taken all I had was my point and shoot G7x I was just getting into shooting. It wasn’t about the recipe leading up to the shot. It was just about hitting the shutter and seeing what happened.Feedback
Get out of where you’d normally find yourself. See new ground and perspective. There’s no right or wrong when capturing images. There’s good and better per se.
