Behind The Lens

Location

This image was captured from an pedestrian bridge overlooking Kamehameha Highway on the island of Oahu, Hawaii in 720 nanometer near-infrared light. What I envisioned, being born and raised in Hawaii, was an perfectly forming wave turning into an massive swell that was about to devour anything in its path. In my mind...normal is boring, lol, and that’s why I love infrared so much. Infrared is unique, unusual, and out of this world...yes, blanketing this world, but we humans can’t view it naturally yet. -Jonny

Time

I believe this image was taken in the afternoon, around 13:30.

Lighting

Infrared has an appetite for strong, daytime lighting.

Equipment

Captured with an Canon 60D, Canon 17-40mm f/4.0L lens that was infrared converted to 720nm by Kolari Vision. 19mm/ f8.0/ ISO160/ 1/250/ manual white-balance.

Inspiration

My self-motivation and love of photography is soothing for my soul.

Editing

Yes, channel-mixing the red & blue channel in PS and basic LR processing.

In my camera bag

I always carry an camera with me during work or personally...either an modded or unmodded Canon body with wide-angle lenses for landscapes.

Feedback

I’ve learned so much from other photographers insights thru Flickr, IG, Veiwbug, or YouTube. Absorb anything you can like an sponge.
