As we sat in the "almendron," our sight was consumed with the pastel colored buildings, saturated with the reflection of the hot pink hood, resembling the Hotel Ambos Mundos that Ernest Hemingway was so fond of. Our nostrils filled with the sent of diesel mixed with the salty Caribbean air, and our skin warm with beads of sweat forming under the intense sun. We were in Cuba.
