This man worked hard day and night pan handling outside my flat while in Barcelona. He was a master with the sad eyes. At even a hint of the police, he would gather his things up in a jiffy like a Dr. Seuss character and slowly walk down the street only to return minutes after the danger passed. He posed for me with his trademark forlorn look in exchange for the half empty bottle in his hand. Both pathetic in the classic sense and industrious, I was very intrigued by this man - my first model. I never saw hide nor hair of the two ninos.
