Location
This photo was taken at Lake Mcdonald in Glacier National Park in Montana.Time
This was taken later in the afternoon around 2.Lighting
Nothing note worthy it was natural lighting.Equipment
This was taken with a canon 40d, a tokina 11-16mm pro dx II wide angle lens. It was a handheld shot taken inches above the water.Inspiration
I've always been fascinated with the colored rocks in the lake and wanted to be able to take a shot where the lake was mirror flat so that I could get the rocks beneath the surface in the foreground and the mountains in the background with the clouds reflecting into the water. With it being later in the year and the cloud cover that was coming and going it all blended together to get the perfect shot.Editing
I process my photos in Cs to compensate for the barrel distortion from the lens and then I finish up in LR.In my camera bag
I try to not over do it with gear. I carry my camera and 3 lens, 11-16mm, 50mm, 18-55. Remote shutter release, spare batteries, lens cleaner and all in one tool.Feedback
Biggest thing is just practice and repetition. Try different angles and different settings till you get the shot you've been wanting.
