Last year for spring break, I drove three hours south from Tacoma, WA to Canon Beach, OR. My family and I spent one day at a nearby state park where at low tide you can walk to some tide pools and see the vivid anemones living in the rocks. While gawking at the life flourishing in such an unlikely place, I took a moment to turn around and look in the direction from which we came and happened to notice the spectrums of light and layers of hills and the sheer abandoned feeling of the beach. This picture turned out to be my favorite of the trip but I didn't see just how astounding it was until I saw it in black and white, which showed me how the lighting came together to create this image.
