The Museo de Él Carmen in México City has 12 natural mummies displayed in the crypt. It used to be a monastery school. The monastery school and chapel were built between 1615 & 1628 by Carmelite Friars. The mummies were former parishioners who were left in the crypt after the school secularizado and was finally abandoned in 1861. Due to soil conditions the bodies dehydrated and naturally mummified.
