Resident of Munggu village, Badung Regency, held a tradition called “Mekotek”. This tradition continue from generation to generation. Mekotek is derived from tap tap sound of wood that is pitted against each other giving rise to noise. Mekotek always performed by the villagers in Munggu every 210 days exactly in Kuningan holy day.
The aim of this ceremony is to protect the world from any natural disaster especially from any pest that can destroy rice fields and other plantations.

The participants of mekotek ceremony wear traditional clothes like, kancut and udeng batik and bring a long bamboo or timber that has been skinned. At noon all the participants gaathered at the temple that extends Munggu dalem. Participants marched toward the source of water in the north of village. At each junction through which each group of 50 people will make a triangular shape for the wood combine to form a cone and they are spinning, prancing with gamelan accompaniment. At the exact moment someone had the guts will climb to the top of pyramid.
