Behind The Lens

Location

There was a display from a local wildlife rescue charity in Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland, and photographers were encouraged to get close to the birds they were showing to the public on the day. I absolutely adore Barn Owls and this one posed beautifully, at a distance from the general public though so there was no stress.

Time

Mid-afternoon on a bright, dry day and remarkably little breeze. Perfect for the birds and the photographers.

Lighting

Natural light of course, and the weather cooperated for once.

Equipment

Hand-held Canon EOS 1DS Mk111 with Canon 70-200 f/2.8L. No flash.

In my camera bag

Besides the above, I carry a Canon 28-70 f/2.8L and a Canon 400 f/5.6L. In my other bag I carry a Canon EOS 7D Mk1 with a Canon 18-135 lens. This one's for "family occasions" mainly, so I can create a calendar for Xmas presents. Not going to be one this Xmas :(
