Sunset scene with the boat and old houses from the Neckar Bridge, Tubingen, Germany.
Tübingen is a traditional university town in central Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 30 km (19 mi) south of the state capital, Stuttgart, on a ridge between the Neckar and Ammer rivers.
In central Tübingen, the Neckar river divides briefly into two streams, forming the elongated Neckarinsel (Neckar Island), famous for its Platanenallee with high plane trees, some of which are more than 200 years old. Pedestrians can reach the island via stairs on the narrow ends leading down from two bridges spanning the Neckar. During the summer, the Neckarinsel is occasionally the venue for concerts, plays and literary readings. The row of historical houses across one side of the elongated Neckarinsel is called theNeckarfront and includes the house with adjoining tower where poet Friedrich Hölderlin stayed for the last 36 years of his life as he struggled with mental instability.

Location
We have been walking the streets of Tubingen, Germany with our friends when they showed me this spot on the Neckar Bridge.Time
It was about the sunset and the sun was setting down behind the buildings.Lighting
The sky that day was mostly overclouded, but there was a small chance to have a break on the sunset. We have been on spot just in time to set the camera and make a decision about the subject. I had just 5 minutes window when the setting sun lit the clouds through the break and I take several shots when this boat appeared and completed the scene.Equipment
I was with my Sony NEX-6 and 16-50 3.5-5.6 kit lens on it, which I love for it compact size. As far as it was pretty dark already I used a tripod as well.Inspiration
The medieval spirit of this small town reminded me the masterpieces of the old painters.Editing
I have done some basic things (light/shadows, contrast). Also, I had to remove some people on the walkway along the river. In my camera bag
I don't really like to lift the weights, so usually I have my Sony NEX-6 with Sigma 19 2.8 for the cityscapes and landscapes and a kit lens Sony 16-50 for the different occasions. Also, I have a couple of old school manual lenses which I like for their awesome image: Olympus 50 1.8 for the portraits and Revuenon-Special 135 2.8 for the details on the landscapes. Also, there are ND and polarizing filters and IR remote control in my bag. Everything is packed in an awesome Lowepro Photo Runner 100. Often, I had my younger son in a carrier on my back, so I can't use a backpack. Photo Runner do a great job for me keeping my hands free and doesn't try to sink in a sea or hit to the stones.Feedback
I like to escape from the big overcrowded cities to the old small towns like Tubingen near Stuttgart. These towns have their own unique spirits and you can slow down a bit walking by the calm streets and take pleasure finding the interesting spots and details.
