Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a small hike through a desert area in Las Vegas, at this time i was working on trying new photography styles and on this walk I happened to be trying abstract and got this shot!

Time

This was taken around 5:30 pm just when was getting ready to set so the lighting was wonderful no harsh light and wonderful colors.

Lighting

Lighting in this shot was all natural no flash used just the dramatic light from the sun setting over the mountains.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D5100 with a 35mm f/1.8

Inspiration

I wanted to try abstract for some time leading up to this shot, when i came upon this cactus i instantly knew this was the shot i had been looking for i knew the composition i wanted right away, i wanted this shot to suck you in and take you to a different place.

Editing

The only post processing i did was to bring out the blues and greens just a tiny bit more.

In my camera bag

I usually pack my 35mm at f/1.8 its incredibly sharp with my Nikon D5100 which is extremely easy to use with nice features.

Feedback

My advice for others looking to capture images that receive attention would be just shoot things you enjoy don't worry about what other people are doing just try to impress yourself before others, keep a sharp eye try to visualize certain compositions others might not see look at the world in different angles. Most importantly remember to enjoy what you do do not ever put any pressure on yourself let everything flow.
