Location
I took this photograph while on sailboat in the middle of a bay.Time
This photograph was taken around noon when a storm was starting to form out on the bay. It was hard to capture because we had to keep moving around on the boat in order to change direction and escape the rain.Lighting
I really liked the lighting in which this photograph was taken because the storm cast a very dark and ominous light on the water. This in turn gave the photograph a very dramatic feeling.Equipment
The only equipment I used to take this photograph was an Olympus TG-630.Inspiration
Whenever I am out sailing in the bay, the simplistic beauty of full white sails on sailboats never fails to amaze me. I wanted to capture this perfectly in a photograph.Editing
I personally think that sailing photos look great in black and white, so after I took the photograph I edited it on photoshop to turn it from color to black and white. When black and white, the white of the sails is accentuated and the water and sky look as one.In my camera bag
I normally take my Canon T5, 75-300 mm lens, an extra SD card, and a few lens filters in my bag. Though when I am out on the water, I tend not to take my T5 and instead I take my simple waterproof camera.Feedback
My advice would be if you get a chance to be in a boat on any body of water make sure to take a camera with you. If you are afraid of getting your expensive camera wet, just take a cheaper waterproof camera. No matter what camera you have, you can take some amazing simple photos. You can take wonderful photographs out on the water of other boats, nature, or the shoreline. Just don't miss out on photo opportunities because you are scared of getting your camera messed up.
