Behind The Lens

Location

Hi. I took this photo in Zekreet, Qatar as a night shot. Since I have a nice sky previously from this place, I have decided to digitally blended 2 images from the same location and different time. Like many amateur photographers, I am self taught.

Time

This was a night shot photo. Particularly taken around midnight, because initially I was planning to have a milky way shot over this rock formation. I was not satisfied by the results thus I went back few days after to shoot a sunset sky from the same location.

Lighting

The thing I like about this picture is that, this was a undisturbed part of the desert. Not many flock their way to see this rock formation. So I decided to leave some footprints in the sand, as what you can see in this picture. The foot prints added depth to this picture I guess while leaving my signature at the door of this creation I made.

Equipment

Canon 600D with Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX Digital Zoom Lens as my currently favorite lens.

Inspiration

Was planning to shoot a milky way shot for this rock formation but decided otherwise when one of my friends told me to blend it with another sky.

Editing

Yes. One for the sky and one for the background, both in Lightroom and Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I always carry with me my Benro camera bag with all my little things in there even if I will not use all of them :)

Feedback

A lot of patience. I just learned with landscape photography that this virtue is very essential.
