Behind The Lens

Location

The picture was taken in the False Creek area of Vancouver, British Columbia. We were on an Aquabus going from Granville Island to Yorktown. It was just a great perspective of Burrard Bridge.

Time

It was another beautiful sunset during our vacation visit. It seems we got a lot of those on our trip.

Lighting

It was getting dark with the sun setting, but I thought I’d try and get the shot, as we were moving, so I only had a brief opportunity, or the framing of the shot would be gone.

Equipment

I used an iPhone 6 Plus. Can’t wait to try out the dual lens of the iPhone 7 Plus soon.

Inspiration

The sunset hour is one of my favorite time to take pictures. Plus being on vacation, and seeing this shot unfold; I just really wanted to capture the moment.

Editing

I pretty much use Snapseed for any of my post production work. With this photo all I really did was to lightening it up a bit so it wasn’t so dark in the foreground, and then a tiny bit of HDR scape to get a bit more depth out of the clouds. The sunset was enough for color warmth.

In my camera bag

Always have my iPhone on me, as I heard the best camera you have is the one you have on you. I really don’t want to own a DSLR as to me it’s just extra to carry, like when I’m running or traveling around. The iPhone to me is enough for what I want in taking a picture. I do have a mini tripod that I sometimes bring with me, but only if I know I may want to do some time-lapse pictures.

Feedback

Again, like with a digital camera, the more shots I take, perhaps only a few afterwards pop back at me, and then I’ll publish those. Most I don’t. With taking a lot of pictures, there will be those shots that stand out. Don’t be afraid to do some post-work on a picture, but don’t go crazy, just add enough as needed to bring out a desired look.
