The Northern Michigan Asylum was built in 1881 and was in use in one form or another until 1989. While much has been rehabbed into shops and offices, some of the old 'cottages' are still in disrepair. The photos really felt more like they needed to be in black and white and filters helped to compensate for no lights in the buildings.
