Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Oklahoma panhandle, also known as 'No Man's Land'

Time

Had been following this storm for about an hour, remembered this abandoned barn that happens to have horned owls nesting in it and thought it would make a perfect silhouette to showcase the stunning colors of the sunset reflected in the clouds.

Lighting

Been shooting weather for a while, and know when the clouds are right for showcasing the sunset.

Equipment

Hand held, I shoot with a couple different brands of cameras, this one was with my weather resistant Pentax K50.

Inspiration

I try to 'live out loud' with my work, showing the world the beauty of the almost treeless Plains, where the open sky gives one a sense of freedom.

Editing

Use mainly Photoshop, and NIK software to bring out the colors the naked eye often can't see.

In my camera bag

A lot of the time its mostly in my pocket! Always keep bug spray, chairs, tripods in the car, and batteries and an extra card in the glovebox. Like to challenge myself to using mainly one lens on that day. Though will bring a second camera along for special shots.

Feedback

Advice, always be aware of your surroundings, know know your equipment, trust your instinct. Know the rules of composition, so if you do break them, you will break them well.
