Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture out of the small bay of a beach called "Margine Rosso" in South Sardinia, the name means "Red edge"

Time

Approsimately at 11:30 a.m.

Lighting

I used only natural light positioning myself sligthly against of sunlight.

Equipment

I used a Canon 7d with Sigma 15mm f2,8 fisheye closed in a italian dedicated Nimar 3D Housing

Inspiration

I wanted to show the beauty of a girl enjoying the freedom and the silence in the underworld

Editing

Yes I do post-processing, mainly RAW developing in Adobe Lightroom, to eliminate some hazes you have when you shoot underwater and to correct some of blue dominance in typical of these shots.

In my camera bag

I usually have a lot of equipment with me, a couple of Canon bodies, 5dmkII for out of water shots and 7d for fast and underwater shots, and lenses from fisheye to ultrawide to finish with a ultralight Canon 400mm f5,6 to cover multiple distance shooting by or into the sea.

Feedback

Keep in mind what you want to do, if normally photographic equipment are expensive, when you shoot underwater you have to buy even housings and ports, so try to be sure when you buy something, to not waste money in gear that you will not like out there. Choose carefully where to dive to have best water condition and always look at the forecast to have the best light, otherwise you'll have flat pictures. Most of all enjoy your time swimming, is the best place in the world.
