my gorgeous sister in law Lesley didn't expect to even have a photo shoot one afternoon, let alone be featured on your site. I absolutely love this image. my original model cancelled on me at the last minute so I rang Lesley and told her to come around as I had my space already set up. I'm so privileged to have captured her in this way. I think she is stunning and her eyes tell the story. the simplicity of developing in black and white adds another dimension to the beauty of this photograph.Time
it was a late afternoon on a chilly sunday and I'm sure my subject didn't mind the lights warming her up.Lighting
as I am new to this craft and only have basic backdrops, this was my first ever home set up photo shoot. as previously mentioned my original model had cancelled at the last minute so having the opportunity to shot Lesley was unexpected. it was a very cold day and my lighting is simple spot lights from my local hard ware store. they did what I wanted them to do though. they are very warm and add to the effect.Equipment
I have a canon 750 D. macro lens 18-135mm no flashInspiration
I stood over the top of my sister in law so I could capture an unusual angle. she was lying on a black box and I added a few flowers to soften the background.Editing
the only post processing was a black and white filter. I think it adds a different subtlety to the overall image. don't get me wrong but the colour photo looked fabulous but I really love black and white and how it adds dimension to a image. In my camera bag
I'm very new to the photography industry and I'm slowly building a base of equipment. I have my canon 750 D , a 10 in 1 reflector and a manfrotto tripod. I have a Wacom tablet for editing and developing but am still learning. I was also very lucky to have met Jerry Ghionis and he gave me his ice light. I recently bought a prime 50mm lens and am enjoying the difference of having a new lens. I am a young woman who recently had major brain surgery to cure my epilepsy. I am living a seizure free life now and pursing my passion for photography and building a career.Feedback
I don't believe I am in a position to offer advice but to capture a similar image I would suggest soft lighting and stand above your subject. create dimension from different angles. use simple props but don't overcrowd your background.
