Location
This photo was taken in the Thornybush game reserveTime
It was early morning and very misty when we came across a number of lions with their cubs. I shot off some photos, adjusting settings as I went along. Fortunately the sun broke through a short while later and I was lucky enough to snap this picture as mom decided that playtime was over and started carrying her cub awayLighting
The lighting had been extremely difficult due to the mist, making settings very tricky. The sudden break through of the sun did not even leave time to adjust settings further, but I just snapped off shots and enjoyed the momentEquipment
The photo was taken with my Sony Alpha 99, using my Sony 70 to 400mm lens at 150mm and at F5.6Inspiration
I just love nature and photographing wildlife, and this was like a dream come trueEditing
I had to do some adjustments due to having over exposed the photo originally, but for the rest only a few adjustments to colour and contrast were requiredIn my camera bag
I do carry both the 70 to 200 F2.8 and 70 to 400 F4 to 5.6 lenses from Sony as well as a 1.4x tele converter in my bag. For wildlife photography they suit me well and are a great addition to the full frame Sony Alpha 99Feedback
Being in the right place at the right time is key, so my best advice is that when you find a subject matter you would like to photograph you stick with it, take as many photos as possible from as many angles as possible and with a bit of luck you will get that magic shot
