It's hard to tell, but a majority of the trees in this photo are burned. Several hours after a freak windstorm sparked a raging fire, we hiked up through the aftermath in hopes of finding our friends home (they were out of town that day) still intact. Luckily it was, even more lucky the calm weather caused the smoke to settle in to the valley for an absolutely breathtaking view.
