Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken at Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. The tiger was lying there with their face pressed up against the glass

Time

This was taken late morning. I had no tripod so it was handheld with the lens balanced against the glass.

Lighting

Was in a covered shelter so lighting was muted. Tiger was outside in the daylight

Equipment

Picture was taken on my old camera which was an Olympus C700UZ. ISO-200, f3.5, 1/30 sec using spot meteriing and no flash.

Inspiration

Brookfield Zoo is one of the first zoos to have more natural settings for their animals. I really enjoy taking animal photos whenever possible.

Editing

Just cleaned up levels and contrast

In my camera bag

Today I use Nikon D5300, Tamron 18-300 lens, multiple other lenses depending on what I am doing, 2 point and shoots (Canon 720hs and Olympus TG5), tripod and I also use my iphone 8 Plus.

Feedback

Patience. I had to wait one time for 30 minutes to get the perfect polar bear shot.
