Collard peccary in breeding season, the male is being amorous.

The collared peccary, also referred to as a Javelina or musk-hog, may resemble a pig, however, peccaries belong to a completely different family than true pigs. The collared peccary belongs to the Tayassuidae family while pigs belong to the Suidae family.

He is being allowed to court the most perfect Javelina in the Gila Forest and he knows it. Love that you think he is smiling and I will never look upon this photo without thinking so also.

Hunted a lot of these in Arizona. They don't call them Ghost Pigs for nothing....;0) Were these in a zoo? They don't usually stick around so you can get a picture of them.

This little couple was with about three big Javelina and they where crossing the trail just 20 feet in front of us. We had heard them so we had our camera ready. It turned out because we did not move and they found some forage we got this interesting shot. For sure this photo was made totally out in the wild.
