A typical art of West Bengal, India. Mainly concentrated in the districts of Bankura and Birbhum of the state. Here a painter is painting on items made of clay. This process is called "Pot Painting".

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Bishnupur, a small town of Bankura district situated in the state West Bengal, India.

Time

It was a lazy late December afternoon, around 3.30 PM

Lighting

Natural light. I did not have to do anything extravagant! It was late afternoon. The tint of light was slowly turning to golden. To me every single element in this photo was just perfectly placed where they should be. I had nothing else to do except capturing this beautiful golden moment!

Equipment

Camera: Canon. Model: 600D. Lens: Canon 18-135 mm. No flash or tripod was used.

Inspiration

The scene itself. It was close to Golden hour and everything was shining like gold. The concentration the person is working with. Giving finishing touches to his hand-made clay products and also making sure they get ready by end of his long and hard working day.

Editing

Increased contrast by 3-4 units.

In my camera bag

One one 18-135 mm and one 55-250 mm lens

Feedback

I myself is an armature! There is nothing to advice. Only thing I can say is - "look around" and try to find something which catches your eyes, which tells you something, which makes you to think about itself -:)
