Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Ottawa on September 25th 2015. It was a concert for Franco-ontarian Day at the University of Ottawa.

Time

My friends were playing this concert and I offered to photograph it. It was at 7:07PM.

Lighting

As with all my concert photography, I use the concert lighting to light my shots. Never use a flash.

Equipment

This was taken with my Canon 7D mk II with a Sigma 70-200 f2.8. No tripod, no flash, no filter.

Inspiration

Looking at this singer move on stage, I was following her to capture this exact moment where her hair seems to float.

Editing

I converted it to black and white with a bit of sepia. Worked with the contrast and upped the clarity.

In my camera bag

Canon 7DII, Canon 24-70mm L 2.8 II, Sigma 10-20mm, Canon 50mm, Sigma 70-200mm f2.8.

Feedback

With concert photography, I try to find the special movements of every musicians. Knowing where they are going to be is always a good way to capture their maneurisms. Within a song, most musicians come back to the same moves a few times. So, follow them and find what's interesting.
