The photo was taken in my garden. Even in a tiny garden there is always a lot of exciting things for a macro photographer. This stick insect actually living at my house but now when the weather got better he enjoy going out to the garden and sunbathing ;)Time
It was mid day and nice sunny day. One of the first nice days in this spring so i was happy to take some shots in my garden.Lighting
I like using natural light, always looks better then flash light. This time i used also a mirror to bounce the sun light to light up the subject.Equipment
This was shot on Nikon D810 with Sigma 105mm macro lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
Those insect always fascinated me. Not often we can see them up that close and see how alien they looks like.Editing
Just usual basic post-processing like cropping, dodging & burning also blurred a little bit the background. In my camera bag
I always have two cameras in my bag - Nikon D810 and Nikon D80 converted to infrared ( my another passion). My lovely Sigma 105mm macro lens is always packed as first, Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye and Tamron 28-300mm. If taking any portrait shots Nikon 50mm is the best. In my bag i always have also shutter cable and sometimes Raynox M250. With macro work a tripod is essential most of the times and my Manfrotto is excellent for this job.Feedback
First -Stop and look around you, sit on the gras on a meadow and you will be surprised how much life is there. Or you just keep some strange insects like this one at home, they are usually very good models and it's great to see them up close whenever you want. Second - Try to use the natural sunlight when you can and (like me) use a mirror to bounce the light.
