Behind The Lens

Location

The main photo in this image was an opportunistic shot. I was at work and we had a torrential downpour. I had my camera with me and stepped outside to take some rain shots. At just the right moment, a young woman walked through with her umbrella.

Time

It was mid afternoon when I took the main shot but the sky was grey and the light was low due to the rain.

Lighting

The light was low due to the rain so the photo had a mysterious, dreamy light to it.

Equipment

I used my Nikon DSLR5100 for this shot. No tripod or flash. Just handheld.

Inspiration

The woman walking through the area with the scaffolding looked interesting and I am glad that I took this photo.

Editing

There have been lots of layers and effects added to this in Photoshop and also Topaz. I wanted to highlight the rainy feel and also to give an impression of how much water was on the ground.

In my camera bag

I carry a telephoto lens and a macro lens with me all the time "just in case".

Feedback

The best advice I can give a photographer is to always have your camera with you! You never know when an everyday event will give you a photo that is special!
