This is a sad scene, Doug. The misty background just increases the sense of melancholy. It's a crime that such magnificent birds aren't revered. In years to come, people will tell their children mythical stories about these swans that used to be. A sad scene, but a great capture!

Echoing my sentiment as well as to the senselessness of some of our wildlife management efforts Doug. An amazingly beautiful picture nonetheless.

My God! What a barbaric way to treat a problem that is more likely man-made.
The cruelty and utter anguish inflicted on the parent birds as well is too horrific to contemplate.
Time for a petition (worldwide) methinks.

Magnificent photo. The mist adds a touch of sadness to the story behind this shot. Bless the Beasts and the Children.
