Behind The Lens

Location

I live in the small village of Azovskaya (RUSSIA), near the Caucasus Mountains. And regularly take walks in the surrounding hills with a camera. This shot was taken early in the morning, in the spring - I was looking for a good view of the river valley and the famous Sober-Bash mountain.

Time

It was between six and seven in the morning, as I recall. I get up early in the morning, at five or six.

Lighting

I was lucky with the light - thunderclouds in the sky interspersed with open areas and the sun broke through at times, lighting wild plums beginning to bloom. In the spring there is a lot of moisture and a very interesting light in the morning. It is gentle, plays in pastel shades, and after a boring winter it is very inspiring.

Equipment

Shot on my favorite Fujifilm x100. Taken off hand without using a tripod.

Inspiration

I really like nature in its wild state. I always carry a camera with me, waiting for a successful moment. I didn’t walk for the sake of this shot, it turned out by chance, it was exactly that moment for which the camera is always with me. I just saw the picture and made a series of photos, of which this was the most successful, he best emphasized the solemnity of the awakened nature.

Editing

There is very little post-processing in this frame. I made it a little bit vibrance, strengthened the level of detail, sharpness, and perhaps all.

In my camera bag

At the moment, I always have a fujifilm X-E2 camera with three lenses (35 1,2, 23 2,0 and 16-55 3,5) with me, only macro is not enough, it is planned for purchase. In the same bag is a small tabletop tripod.

Feedback

To catch this, you need to spend a lot of time outdoors, get up early and never forget the camera at home. I noticed that it was precisely at those moments when it became laziness, and you left your bag at home, just wanting to take a walk, the most interesting shot is wrapped up. If it’s not possible to constantly walk with a large system camera, take a mirrorless universal camera such as the same fuji x100, but never leave the camera at home, then you will have a chance for a wonderful photo, a magical moment that will remain with you and those who are watching your photos .
