Behind The Lens

Location

Hello. I made this photo in Bielmonte, part of the Biella Alps, in a small farmhouse in 1450 meters high.

Time

In the afternoon 4.30/5pm after a forced stop, the rain had caught us unprepared, fortunately only a few meters centinania there was this farm.

Lighting

The lighting is natural all although I had to wait for the right moment where light and lively rainbow were better. Obviously I did some extra shots to be sure to catch the best light.

Equipment

For this shot I used a simple Canon Powershot S95, a mid-level compact digital camera.

Inspiration

The full rainbow just a few hundred meters, was a unique opportunity and even rare, and I took it instantly!

Editing

I absolutely, always I take care of my every shot in detail. The photo is made up of multiple shots, then joined together using Photoshop. The colors are calibrated thanks to the multiple functions of Photoshop and Camera Raw, with the final touch by Nik Collection.

In my camera bag

Now normally I have with me a Canon EOS 7D and Canon EOS 40D. As lenses I have in my backpack ultra wide angle Tokina 12-24 f / 4, Tokina 28-70 f / 2.8, Canon 50mm f / 1.8 STM and a Tamron SP 70-300mm f / 4-5.6. How to use a tripod Rollei C-5i.

Feedback

Always have with you your camera whatever it is, do not give up just because it is a smartphone or a compact, you can take beautiful pictures even with these devices. Before shooting always I imagine it finished shooting, so you know what I otenerlo. Then if you do a scene like this without a tripod, you will find a place to lean with your camera, significantly will increase the sharpness. When this is done it is necessary to realize more shots, in order to have more possibilities in post processing. Finally, use your camera in manual, we will give you great freedom in this kind of photography.
