Behind The Lens

Location

I had just moved to an old apartment in the West End of Vancouver that had an old oven. It reminded me of the steampunk machinery from the movies I watched as a kid. I had to take a picture before they replaced it with a boring new one. ;)

Time

Honestly I can't remember exactly..but it may have been during one of the afternoons when I was trying to unpack my way to the oven so I could click one.

Lighting

Lighting is a bulb on the ceiling and some natural light bouncing on eggshell colored walls and cardboard boxes. It was very yellow. I adjusted the white balance to compensate.

Equipment

Canon 7D, Sigma 35 mm Prime Art lens.

Inspiration

When I saw the dusty rusty knob on the kitchen it took me back to the time when I would collect parts of old radio, TV sets, cars, basically anything I found discarded on the street or in my grandparents' garage or attic and hope one day someone will help me put together a robot or a spaceship with the spare parts. This knob could had been a part of the cockpit maybe a start switch? Or an eject button?

Editing

Touched up the color temperature in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

camera, 35mm prime lens, a tripod when needed.
