took this photo at Huntington Beach State Park in South CarolinaTime
It was early morning, probably about an hour after sunriseLighting
For the South Carolina It was windy and brutal cold for the first day of October. It was around 40F that morning. Birds tried to get closer to each other with hope to get a little bit warmer. I was freezing as well and feel very sorry for them, but from another hand it was very interesting to see what did they do trying to stay warmEquipment
I used my Nikon D 7100 camera with 70-300 mm lens and Vanguard Alta Pro 236AT tripod with Vanguard SBH-100 ball headInspiration
I love Huntington Beach State Park. It is very beautiful place and I would even call it Mekka for wildlife photographers. I met there many amazing professional and amateur photographers.Editing
Post processing was minimal. Just a little touch up in levels and some croppingIn my camera bag
I don't have anything fancy. I usually have my Nikon D7100 with two lenses 18-70 mm and 70-300 mm. Almost every time I have with me my Vanguard Alta Pro 236AT tripod. Sometimes I would also grab my older Nikon D 70. In addition, quite often I would carry Nikon Coolpix A100 waterproof camera along with HTC One M8 in my pocket.Feedback
Best advice is to get know the place. Do some homework research, visit it at a different time of the day and with different weather conditions. Try to check if you could get some advices from local fellow photographers. If you are going to visit Myrtle Beach please make sure to put aside at least few hours to go to Murrells Inlet. Best time to go there would be at sunrise when all wildlife wakes up or couple hours before sunset. That time all birds are starting to come back for the night. Make sure to look for the tide chart. At the low tide not much water left down there and not many birds will stay in. Of course, you can try to switch your attention to gators and with some luck you might be able to shoot a picture of a gator hunting down an animal, a bird or a fish. And of course, when Lady Luck is on your side you can expect unexpectable
