Behind The Lens

Location

Boston, at the M.I.T., the collegiate sailing boat dock.

Time

Well, the "golden hour" after 5 pm, I walked down from my hotel, wanting to check out the river and check out the college sailing dock. All in a few minutes there was some rain, drizzle, clouds and the sun was creating an iridescence.

Lighting

All in a few minutes there was some rain, drizzle, clouds and the sun was creating an iridescence.

Equipment

Canon EOS 7D, 18-135mm, no flash, no tripod.

Inspiration

The light was fantastic with the clouds, rain and the sun painting the scene, the sailing dinghy being illuminated.

Editing

Adobe Lightroom allowed me to bring out what I saw.

In my camera bag

I only traveled with my camera, weighty as it is, you never know when that moment is going to happen. I used my kit lens since my other lens was balking.

Feedback

I could have taken this shot with a cell phone, although I am certain that it would not have the impact. These are happy moments, I knew I would get nice photos but the weather changed so quickly, I had no idea that I would capture this image. I love my DSLR and it is worth the heft.
