Location
In my humble apartment, in my humble bathroom, over my humble bathtub :)Time
Some time around noon, but the time was / is irrelevant - no natural light was intended for this shot. It had to be as dark as possible.Lighting
A powerful UV light was placed over the models head to illuminate the bodypaint she was covered in. Also, the tub was filled with indian tonic water (not water!) to add the additional needed glow caused by the quinine found in it.Equipment
Just a tripod to stabilize the shot, and a camera. Manual settings. High ISO, lowest shutter speed possible.Inspiration
A dream / idea I had for a music video. And I'm fascinated with deep sea aquatic life, which to this day remains mostly undiscovered and a mystery.Editing
Of course. I always post-process. Start off with Photoshop to add / subtract elements, and then finish off with Lightroom to achieve the desired colour toning. In my camera bag
Nothing fancy: just my Sony NEX-5, the kit lense that came along with it (zoom), and a Helios 44-2 lense (prime) I adopted from an unused Zenit camera. A few filters (IR, polarising, UV), and that's it! I keep my kit as simple as possible. What I enjoy most it the post-processing process.Feedback
Be creative. Experiment. And know from the onset what aesthetically works for you best.
