Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in small rooftop cafe in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

Time

It's midday, early spring.

Lighting

For more than six years of my photography experience I've shoot with probably all possible sources of light: natural light , film light, different flashes and studio lights, combinations of natural and lamp, night lanterns and bonfires and can say that all of them have it's own charm. But my favorite is definitely natural one.

Equipment

Full frame, fixed focal length and plenty of light (mostly natural one) and the reflector.

Inspiration

While shooting portraits etc, I'm always inspired by the subject - the person I'm working with.

Editing

I try to do as less editing as possible. I never play with layers, filters and other stuff. When editing is really needed I'm following the simple rule - the best editing is the one that is not seen

In my camera bag

Camera with 50mm lens and reflector.

Feedback

If you want to tell some short story - say it short, I mean shoot in black and white. The viewer wouldn't be distracted by the details that color provides. If you want to tell more or you are thrilled and passioned with the details - shoot in color. If you have nothing to say - don't shoot.
