The photo was taken right before we reach the highest peak of mountain Taygetus to witness the Pyramid Phenomenon.Time
It must have been around 5:30 am after like a 3 hour hiking since we wanted to catch the sunrise.Lighting
Natural light is all I had to work with and I am glad for that. I wanted the picture to be faceless so anyone can picture themselves in the hiker's shoes.Equipment
The small canon 600d once more with a 50mm lens and a heavy tripod ( thankfully ) cause the winds was totally on us at this point.Inspiration
It was my first actual hike and to be honest I was way tired since i had like 15Kg on my back all the time. You could say it was a surprise trip for me since I am actually a city guy or at best a sea guy. So been exhausted but also thrilled to almost reach the top, I wanted to actually capture my feelings of what hiking was for me. It can be exhausting and at some point confusing in terms of why you 're doing all that but you should persevere and keep on hiking cause, oh boy, it is worth it!Editing
No post processing was done, apart from a little black and white pulling to balance the image. The concept was simple and easy to capture , the moment it was all that mattered. In my camera bag
Right now I am in love with my new 24mm pancake ( or you could say 30 something in my crop camera ) a great and light all around lens. It stays mounted in my canon 600d almost always. The 50mm doesn't leave my bag and gets to be on my camera every time the 24mm takes a break :D . I barely take my tripod with me, unless I know beforehand what I am about to shoot. I am also toying around with a film camera this days, so that gets a spot in my bag also. And as always duck tape , the day savior.Feedback
After finishing my trip I realized that one big mistake i made, was the weight. Try to travel as light as possible, I think that is the best advice anyone can give to someone. That mistake, worked in my favor that time ,cause we ended up having such a wild winds that day, so getting the heavy tripod was worth it in the end. But to be honest, carrying it on my back for that long wasn't the greatest idea. Travel safe is also another one. Never compromise your safety to get a picture even if it is the most awesome picture for you.Don't get me wrong, I am not saying you shouldn't try. All I am say is try to capture that picture, but if your gut feeling say that something is wrong in the situation you are in, go with it. To put it as simple as I can. First is yourself, take care of him then, the experience, live the moment and then is the picture, capture it when all the above is finished.
