Location
Taken in the newly remodeled Gailliard Center in downtown Charleston, SC.Time
Took the shot at noon, December 1, 2015.Lighting
Used only available light, most from windows on the side and overhead. The artificial light provided some nice accent and contour.Equipment
A recently purchased FujiFilm XT-10, 16-50mm f3.5-5.6, no tripod or flash.Inspiration
Having been recently finished and just now opened for the day, the space was fresh and bright so that the contours and details werem studio-perfect. This part of the ceiling recalled features of some of the churches, basilicas, cathedrals I had seen in Europe.Editing
In PhotoShop, slight cropping and conversion using channels. Ansel Adams: "You don't take a photograph, you make it."In my camera bag
Normally, I don't carry a bag, but when I do, it's in anticipation of what I plan to shoot. Then it's Canon--5D Mk III, 7D Mk II with a full range of Canon lenses. If it's a commission, I remember the advice of pro Eric Dobbs, who told me that then it is often good to take everything because seeing all that fancy gear can give the client confidence in one's professionalism.Feedback
Always be on the lookout for shapes, colors, and patterns and good light to bring it all to life.
