Behind The Lens

Location

I was down at the Ashland boat dock early one morning.

Time

I remember the night before making sure that I had my camera bag packed so that when I woke up the next morning to take my wife to work at 5:30 so I could go down to the boat dock to try and capture the fog lifting on the Ohio River. There was very little fog that morning so I decided to stick around and get pictures of the sun coming up.

Lighting

I remember that the fog had just finished lifting and there was such a nice bright sun coming up over the mountain that I decided to use a vivatar series one fld filter to capture the beautiful orange glow and the shadows.

Equipment

I used a Nikon 5000 camera with a 55mm to 80mm Nikon lens with a Vivatar series 1 fld filter.

Inspiration

I have always loved the river and think that some of the best pictures I have taken have been along the water. The sun looked so beautiful coming over the mountains that mourning with the river in the foreground it was just majestic. It was one of those sun rises that makes you proud to be from this area of America.

Editing

I really didn't have to do any post processing to this . It just turned out perfect.

In my camera bag

I normally keep my Nikon 5000 and a 55mm to 80mm lens. A 80mm to 200mm lens, some assorted filters and a speed flash and at least one slave glad in my bag. I learned several years ago to take my bag everywhere I go. You never know when you are going to find a great shot.

Feedback

Keep your camera bag packed and with you at all times. You never know when that perfect shot will present itself.
