A school of Bluefin tuna off Ensenada, Mexico.

Bluefin are the Ferraris of the ocean. They are beautiful, they are fast and they sure can be expensive. Huge amounts of effort go into catching these fish and are sold to the highest bidders in Japanese markets. A single 490 pound bluefin sold for $1.8 million dollars in the first auction of 2013 in Japan. Thats nearly $3,700 per pound. With such a high demand for the fish many expect them to go extinct if serious conservation measures aren't taken.

It was an honor to share the water with such beautiful fish and I certainly hope that one day my kids will have the same chance.
