Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Hobart Australia, in 2013 at the Tall ship Regatta

Time

It was 1 PM, as the fleet was leaving Hobart, it was perfect weather for photographing saling ships.

Lighting

There was a lot of clouds and rain on the day, and the wind was getting strong the father out we went.

Equipment

Nikon D90 using a 18-200 lens, hanging on to the forsty of a 32ft sailing boat. 1/6000 f8 ISO 200

Inspiration

I like taking photos of ships and boats,

Editing

Post processing was done in Lightroom, not a great deal was done, if I have to do more than a minutes worth I will delete the photo.

In my camera bag

I keep my equipment to the bare minimum, mostly it depend on where I am going or how I am traveling, if by car I take an 105mm macro, tripod, 150-500 sigma, flash, and cleaning material, I also use a Think tank harness and belt. Rather than take a lot of stuff I make do with what I got on me at the time, take more time on composition and lighting, that means less time on editing after.

Feedback

I don't have much advice except that just have a go and have a go, with todays DSL'S just sit somewhere take a photo of something change the settings to see what changes happened.
