Very nice photo It illustrates how animals have to struggle to get some food in winter. Even if they have to fight for it. Well done!

This image was captured in Haines, Alaska late in the month of November.Time
Daylight is limited in Alaska during the winter season. Good light is rare so you learn to work with what you have. This image was captured somewhere around 2:00 p.m.Lighting
As I said, good light is at a premium during the winter months of Alaska. Some days are glorious, quite a few are overcast and snowy and depending on where in the state you are shooting you also have the shadows of the mountains to contend with.Equipment
I shot this image with a Canon EOS-1DX using a Canon EF800mm f/5.6L lens. I use a Gitzo GT3542L Mountaineer Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod with a Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head.Inspiration
Eagles are a passion. They are a symbol of strength and incredibly graceful to watch in the air. There is no mistaking one in flight. They are also entertaining to watch. They would rather fight one another over a tiny scrap than actually work for a fish in the water right beside them. I'm not sure if it's the fight for dominance that drives them or laziness. These to just wanted to show off a little more than most. Both were large and equal size so the pair off made for a nice little battle.Editing
I use Photoshop with a little Topaz thrown in to create the look I want for each image. I don't really have a "go to" work flow. It really just depends on the capture and what I think makes it speak the loudest. Sometimes an image will go through many different versions before I'm satisfied with the final picture. In my camera bag
I always travel with more than one body. My wildlife shots are all done with the 1Dx and the 800mm. I use either the 1Dx or my Canon 1Ds Mark III with a Canon EF 16-35MM F/2.8L II USM for landscape shots. I also recently added the Canon EF 11-24MM F4L USM to my bag. We'll see what fun I can have with that. I have a variety of other lenses including a macro, all are Canon. It's fun to try something different no matter where you're shooting.Feedback
Patience! Shoot all the time. Shoot every day, carry your camera with you everywhere because you never know when magic will happen in front of you. If you want something specific, do your research. Figure out the patterns, the lighting and any other weather patterns that may hinder your quest. Join a local camera group. There is no better place for information and for tips. You'll meet people that are just a passionate as you are about photography. If that's not your thing, there is a world of knowledge on the internet. Everyone wants to teach you something!
