Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near Phuket, Thailand.

Time

It was early to mid morning.

Lighting

A lot of salt in the air, so there was a slight ethereal feel to the air.

Equipment

I used my Nikon 7200, 70-200mm Tamron lens.

Inspiration

These guys seemed so happy, but also fearless, so I just had to take the shot. While I'm sure they work incredibly hard everyday, they seemed to realize that they're in paradise.

Editing

I used Lightroom and converted to black and white with some heavy contrast, a bit of vignette and a good dose of clarity. I always shoot in raw format.

In my camera bag

My Nikon 7200, 70-200mm lens, my "kit lens" (18-105mm), and at least one prime (usually the 35mm).

Feedback

Be patient! I waited and waited for a decent expression and good angle. Also, always take your camera with you; we were on a small canoe and could have easily tipped over, but it was worth the risk!
