Behind The Lens

Location

Photos taken at Mustasaari, Finland, place is called Bjorkoby and it's located at Raippaluoto island. This area is one of the Unesco World Heritage site's. Unique landscape is formed by latest ice age and and land is still rising 8mm per year, which is one of the fastest in the world.

Time

There is walking path in this area where cows are pasturing and I took an evening walk after warm day. During the June sun is setting at midnight in Finland and photo is taken in the evening about 8pm.

Lighting

Summer sun in the evening gives smooth light.

Equipment

This shot was taken with Canon EOS 5D mk II and Canon EF 24-70 f2.8 lens.

Inspiration

The place is unique and I like these cows. They are are very friendly and perfect for the photographing.

Editing

Photo is shot in RAW format and basic adjustment are done in post processing. I wanted to keep photo close to what human can see to give real impression of the place.

My trusted workhorse Canon 5D mark ii. Lenses 14mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 400mm.

Feedback

Use time for animals to get to the correct position in the landscape. Cows are fairly easy to photographs as those are in certain area, if comparing to wildlife animals. Light is everything. Side light gives an extra tone to photo.
