Location
I was doing a night shot and long exposure project. It was on the side of the road a few miles from my house.Time
This was a really fun shot. It took some thought and planning but not too difficult. I was by myself running back and forth from my camera to my spot then counting the seconds to hold my arms in each position. All that on the side of the road at almost midnight.Lighting
This was just a location i scouted driving around at night for a few days. There was a street light close by that gave the area a creepy feel and was perfect for what I was looking for. All I had to do was find the best place to setup my tripod.Equipment
I can't remember if this was shot with my Canon SL1 or an older camera I had. Either way my equipment was minimal. Camera, tripod, and subject.Inspiration
I was working on a project with light painting, and long exposures. While working on that I got the idea to use body movement instead of light. This was the result.Editing
It didn't require a lot of touch up work. A little Photoshop to remove the car taillights and some color correction tweaks. In my camera bag
I like to keep my camera bag light and versatile. For digital photography it's my camera, 18-200mm lens, grey card, and an extra battery.Feedback
A shot like this could be time consuming. I would recommend planning it out first. Counting how long to hold each position before moving is important. I actually practiced with a few test shots to get the timing and position right. It's always good to bring a friend (though I did not). Make sure it's someone that's not impatient and is excited about the project. If not they can get bored and rush you.
