Behind The Lens

Location

At home in my office. Very simple set up on a table with some Halloween decorations, fabric for a backdrop and my furry baby.

Time

Shortly before noon, the office didnt have a lot of natural light, but I guess that helps with the Halloween feel.

Lighting

The lighting is a combination of flash, overhead light and a lamp.

Equipment

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi, an inexpensive flash I got at a garage sale and my favorite lenses, the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM.

Inspiration

It was the witch's hat he's wearing. Found it at the dollar store and decided to have some fun.

Editing

In this particular shot there was really any, I might have done a little bit of exposure adjustment to get the feel I wanted.

In my camera bag

I swap my equipment out depending on where I'm going and what I'm shooting, but, aside from my camera, I almost always bring my 50mm and then there are the essentials, extra batteries and memory cards.

Feedback

Shooting pets can be tricky, it really depends on their attention span and tolerance (or the ability to bribe them with treats!). Riley was still pretty young here so I could get him to stay with treats and some peanut button smeared on the cauldron. Now that he's older that doesn't work as well. As for the rest of the image, it was just being creative with what I had on hand.
