Behind The Lens
Location
I was taking a cross country trip a few years back and I am driving towards Taos, NM. I had stopped to take some photos of the Rio Grande bridge and was getting into the car when I look at the road ahead. There was no one as far as the eye could see and I just took the photo standing in the middle of the road. I didn’t think any more of it and got back into the car.Time

I was struck by the road disappearing into the horizon. I didn’t think about the photo when I took it as I was holding my camera getting into the car. It was a throwaway shot - unplanned, unscripted and I just trusted my eye. What is remarkable is that since I took that photo, I had a hard drive failure loosing all my raw images from that trip (6,000 of them). It’s rather poetic that the only image I have left is this beautiful throw away!Equipment

As a person of European descent, this is a powerful image for me. It inspires a sense of infinite possibilities and that anything is possible. I believe that the idea of “America - Land of the Free” is directly inspired from the emotions that our European ancestors felt as they made their way across these huge, pristine landscapes all those years ago.Editing
There was some post-production work but it was minimal. As I started to play with the contrast and color saturation, the image just emerged until it tuned into the memory of what inspired me to take the image in the first place. It just looked right and that was it.In my camera bag
