Location
This is a bouldering area near Lleida (Catalonia) called El Cogul.Time
It was about 12 on sunny day, 9th March 2014. This is a climbing area best suited for deep winter, and it was already pretty warm, plus it was second day of climbing so we were a bit tired.Lighting
The sun light was very neat and hard. Sun was the main light and I placed a speed light on the floor as a fill/effect light, which was located under the climber to the right one meter away but aiming at her with no light shaping accessory, giving a hard light point.Equipment
I used a FF camera with a 24-70 mm lens @ about 24 and one off camera speed light (on its own stand) triggered with a radio trigger on my camera hotshoe. I was lying on the floor to get the best point of view so no tripod was required.Inspiration
The color, shapes and features on the roof with this neat blue sky and the idea of the boulderer climbing through it.Editing
Usual basic adjustments plus some extra local adjustments such as contrast and sharpening to give emphasis to the rock and climber. In my camera bag
I usually bring my 5DIII with EF 24-70 2.8L attached, always with the hood ready for the action. I also usually bring 70-200 2.8L, 50mm1.8 (I also tried the brilliant sigma art lens 50mm1.4 which i loved) and canon 600ex-rt speed light and its radio trigger. The bag also carries extra batteries, memory cards and a pola filter, a towel to clean the equipment.Feedback
The point of view is basic. This shot from another angle would show almost a different place. I was lying under the roof, with my shoulder by the wall to get as much of the roof as my lens allowed me. I took advantage of the clean sunlight being it the main light. It also allowed me to shoot at ISO 100. And of course, the moment.
