This photo was taken on a visit to my daughter in Marysville, WA on her back porch. I love black & white photography, especially with a black cat! This one was more than willing to be a super model!Time
This sot was taken in mid afternoon, with the light from the sun behind me. We were on a covered patio and the cat was walking around on the patio barrier around the posts, when it came to say hi to me as I was sitting in one of the patio chairs, I picked up my camera and made the shot! Purrrfect!Lighting
I knew I already had great lighting since the sun was behind me, and I loved the way the shadows were playing into this so I didn't use any kind of a flash, just picked up the camera and took the shot.Equipment
I used my DSLR and just took the shot as is, camera in my hand, no tripod and no flash. Sometimes the spur of the monet photos really are the best!Inspiration
This cat was walking in and out of the beams of the patio fencing, and I was very intrigued with some of the faces, I took several shots when it was coming towards me and then it just sat still right there looking up into the sun, and I took the shot because the look on that cats face said it all!Editing
This photo is as as it was shot, except for the black and white, the original photo was in color, however with a black cat and those gorgeous shadows, nothing else would do but black and white! In my camera bag
I always carry my tripod, I have extra batteries and even a battery charger so that I am never without that camera when I need to take a great shot.Feedback
Sometimes it is all about being there in the right moment, and taking a lot of pictures to get that "One" shot. I took a dozen before this one just happened to be that close to me, Patience and serenity are the best friends you can have when you are shooting, look close at everything you shoot, because one shot you take might actually hold a better one right beside it!
