I'm fortunate enough to live close enough to a minor Sandhill Crane migration route. They fly a couple of times a day to get to foraging areas, day roosts or night roost. What a fun photo opp. There is nothing like the primal calls of these ancient birds.

I discovered the benefit of hiking on a day when the temperature was about -15F. Ripples in the river had just seemed to have frozen mid-ripple.

Out hiking in late fall, early winter, I came across leaves with gorgeous colors beneath the sugary-ice coating.

This rescued Solcata tortoise was sitting under his sun lamp warming up and enjoying a strawberry.

I'd never come across gooseneck barnacles before this. I knew I wasn't looking at little aliens drinking, but just for a second... ;^)
