Location
I took this picture while visiting the Chihuly Glass Gardens in Seattle, Washington in July of 2015. The lilies were as vibrant and brilliant in color as the glass sculptures. Landscapes and nature have always been my passion when photographing subjects, but I am exploring the world of Macro and Abstract photography and had fun capturing this photo.Time
I took this photo when the sun was high in the sky, around 12:30 pm.Lighting
If the light doesn't look right on your subject, change your angle if you can't control the light. If you are not happy with the the way the subject looks through the lens and the way the light hits it, you probably won't be happy with the result of the photograph.Equipment
This photo was taken with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT using a Canon EFS 18-55 mm lens. I was free hand when I took this photo.Inspiration
I was sitting in the garden enjoying the scenery. I just had the urge to take the photo, trying something different. I don't normally take macro photos, but they are fast becoming my favorite photos to capture. If I love something when looking at it, I try capture it in a photo. I try to look at things from a different perspective and am always in awe of what we have around us. When going through our every day lives, we rush through so much of the day. If we take the time to "stop and smell the roses", we see so much more. In my case, I stop, smell the roses, and then capture the memory.Editing
No, I did not do any post-processing on this photo. About 95% of my photographs have had no post-processing done to them. I am exploring the world of black and white as a post-processing element, but normally don't change anything about my photographs, maybe a crop now and then. I have several photo processing programs, but have yet to play with them.In my camera bag
My Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT Body, my Canon EFS 18-55 mm lens, my Canon EF 75-300 mm lens and several SanDisk camera cards. I also always carry my battery charger with me. Other than that, not much else. Sometimes a portable tripod too.Feedback
Have fun while you are photographing. If you enjoy a subject while you are photographing it, the photo will reflect your enjoyment and/or mood and hopefully your photograph will give the person looking at it enjoyment too.
